This can determine if a lump in your neck is arising from your thyroid or a neighbouring structure such as your salivary gland or lymph nodes. It can also assess any thyroid nodules to determine if they are benign or have more sinister features. If so, your Radiologist will suggest a referral for a thyroid nodule biopsy at a local hospital. If you are found to have any thyroid nodules, an ultrasound can also be used to check for any change in size of these nodules over time. This Neck ultrasound can also assess for parotid and submandibular gland swellings and assess any lymph node enlargements which may look suspicious.
