Mounjaro & Wegovy Injections
Mounjaro and Wegovy weight loss injections with a Face to Face GP consultation in Fulham and Wimbledon, London. As part of our holistic approach to weight loss, we do not want to only prescribe you with the GLP-1 injection. You will have a full GP consultation to ensure this treatment is appropriate for you and to assess your risks and fully inform you of any potential complications. Weight loss injections are only part of your strategy and there are other discussions you will have with our GP to help towards your end goals.

INITIAL CONSULTATION – What is Included?
Your Doctor will go through your medical history, side effects of the drug which may occur, current weight and intended goals. You will undergo blood pressure, pulse, BMI and waist circumference measurements. The first starter dose of the weight loss pen will also be included in this package.
We may like to see recent blood tests (within the last 3 months) – this can be done with us or you can bring in a copy from your NHS GP or other private clinic.
Please bring in a copy of your medical history summary if you can – you can request this from your NHS GP Surgery or this can also be obtained via your NHS app (so please do download this and have it ready for your consultation).
FOLLOW UP CONSULTATION – What is Included?
This consultation includes a check of your current weight, blood pressure, pulse, BMI and waist circumference. If you have any side effects to the medication, a prescription can be written within this time to help ease your symptoms.
Other medical conditions ARE NOT included in this time and a separate consultation should be booked to discuss other medical issues.
What is the Weight Loss Injection?
The weight loss injection we use (see picture above) belongs to a group of drugs called the GLP-1 agonists – these can also be called GLP-1 analogues, GLP-1 RAs and incretin mimetics.
The injection is designed to reduce appetite, so you eat less. It mimics the action of a gut hormone called GLP-1, which is released after eating, and it slows down how quickly food is digested. This means it can help you stay full for longer, which can lead to weight loss.
How much weight can I expect to lose and who regulates this?
The amount of weight you might lose will depend on your personal circumstances, as well as the support you receive from your healthcare team and how long you take this medication for.
In a major study, endorsed by the MHRA, the SURMOUNT-2 clinical trial for Mounjaro showed a mean percentage weight loss of 13.4% for the 10mg dose group and 15.7% for the 15mg dose group during the trial period. The UK medicines regulator MHRA (in November 2023) has approved the above medications for weight loss and weight management in adults aged 18 and over.
Are there other benefits to GLP-1 agonist injections?
GLP-1s seem to have other major benefits. Research has found that some drugs in these groups may lower the risk of heart disease, such as heart failure, stroke and kidney disease. People taking these drugs have seen their blood pressure and cholesterol levels improve. But it is unclear whether these benefits are from the medication or the weight loss.
How do I take my weight loss Injection?
You will need to self inject the medication once a week. Your GP will give you more information about how to take it, and how to inject. Each Injection will last 1 month.
This medication should be taken alongside a healthy diet and regular physical activity with support from a weight management service.
Who cannot take the weight loss Injection?
Certain medications might not be suitable for some people, which may be because of a medical condition or other reasons:
- Patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN 2 syndrome.
- Patients with Type 1 Diabetes and pregnant women.
