Elizabeth Sherlock

Practice Nurse

I started my nursing life after working in retail and travel for some years. My early career choices gave me a passion for customer service.

My nursing career started in the medical wards and then accident and emergency. In between having my children, I gained valuable experience in endocrinology and started an interest in all things hormonal and women’s health, before moving into General Practice Nursing.

This enabled me to develop my passion for general practice. My mother was a GP in Wimbledon for many years and I grew up in the surgery – going there before school. I attended local schools and now enjoy working in the area.

After many years as a practice nurse I moved into education whilst still working part time as a practice nurse. My successes in education were the development of a professional development framework for practice nurses, developing health care assistants in general practice, organizing and running successful conferences on health care assistant roles and responsibilities and setting up a local practice nurse conference which continues to this day.

I eventually decided to concentrate on women’s health taking up a post as a cervical screening facilitator, sexual health lead and eventually the management of the contraception service post which I have held for the last 5 years. Throughout this time I have continued to work locally as a practice nurse and specialize in respiratory conditions and allergy as well as,of course, women’s and sexual health.
